The compositions of resistant indicator minerals are diagnostic their original host environment. They may be used to fingerprint different types mineral deposit as well vector towards them. We have characterised the composition apatite and Fe–Ti oxides in variably mineralised mafic–ultramafic rock units Montagnais Sill Complex Labrador Trough assess suitability for vectoring magmatic sulphide occurrences. Two broad were identified: (i) fluoro- hydroxy-apatite (Cl/(Cl+F) < 0.2); (ii) chloro- > 0.5). former reflects variable degrees degassing Cl loss during Rayleigh fractionation is not indicative Ni–Cu mineralisation or rock. latter exists only sulphidic olivine cumulate thus similar Trough. Ilmenite dominant oxide, except upper parts differentiated gabbroic sills which titanomagnetite dominant. Magnetite occurs a secondary phase serpentinised cumulates discriminative sulphides. olivine-bearing characteristically high Mg (∼1000–10 000 ppm), Cr (∼100–1000 Ni (∼10–1000 ppm) concentrations relative those from other units.
